Low pressure to bring rain through Jharkhand | Ranchi News
RANCHI: The well marked low pressure originated on the Bay of bengal remained over the bordering areas of west bengal and Jharkhand Wednesday causing light to moderate rain in various parts of the state. The slow-moving system is likely to pass over Jharkhand late Wednesday night and cover the state on Thursday causing light to moderate rains in most of the state.
Ranchi IMD chief Abhishek Anand said the well-marked low-pressure area will lead to rain and thunderstorms along with high-speed winds blowing at a speed of 30-40 km per hour with gusts of up to 50 km per hour. “During the last 24 hours, the monsoon was active over Jharkhand and a maximum rainfall of 49 mm was recorded in the Rajmahal area of Sahibganj district. The influence of the well-marked low-pressure system is likely to continue for five days, initially causing rain in most parts of the state and in many parts starting Friday, ”he said.
Due to the consecutive low pressure system that originated in the Bay of Bengal, the monsoon revitalized during the last two weeks of September mitigating the shortage of seasonal rains. Of the 24 districts, 17 have registered normal rainfall, while five are still in the poor category, with Lohardaga the only district that registered excess rainfall.
Anand said that compared to the normal 1,050mm, the state has received 1,003.7mm, indicating a negative output of 4%. “Over the next four or five days this deficit is expected to mitigate due to the possibility of rain in most of the state,” Anand said.
