Jharkhand will host the national junior women’s hockey championship next month.

“The 11th edition of the national junior women’s hockey championship will be held at the Astroturf Stadium in Simdega from October 20-30,” said Hockey Jharkhand President Bholanath Singh, adding that preparations were underway for it. .

“I along with our Vice President Dharmendra Singh met with Prime Minister Hemant Soren last week to ask him to open the national event and he gave his consent to it,” Singh reported. Hockey India officials will also be present during the event, he added.

The event will feature the participation of 31 teams representing different states and territories of the country’s Union, he said, adding that the women’s youth national team will also be selected during the Simdega event.

“The Indian Hockey selectors will be present during the national match to judge the performances of the players and select the national team from among them,” said Singh.

“Preparations are underway for the event and we are all doing everything we can to not only make the stay comfortable for guests and players, but also to provide an opportunity for hockey-loving people in the area to see the matches. no problem, ”said Hockey Simdega president Manoj Konbegi when asked about the preparations.

“Yes, the prime minister is also expected to lay the foundation stone for another previously proposed artificial turf stadium here,” he said when told that Hockey Jharkhand chairman Singh had already announced it.

“Simdega, as you know, is the hockey kindergarten in the state and another artificial turf stadium would help promote local talent,” argued Konbegi in favor of the proposed stadium.

If so, many players from Simdega villages can represent the state and eventually the country in international events, including the world cup and the Olympics, he said.
