Ranchi, September 19: The annual general meeting of the Jharkhand Weightlifting Association was held at the Mega Sports Complex in Ranchi on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by the general secretary of the Jharkhand Weightlifting Association (JWA), Anil Kumar Jaiswal. Among the participants was Rajkumar Singh, president of the East Singhbhum Weightlifting Association and secretary of AK Chakraborty. Representatives from Ramgarh, Dhanbad, Koderma, Godda, Pakur, Garhwa also participated in this AGM.

Rajkumar Singh reported on the proceedings of the meeting after his return to the city of Ranchi. He said that many important decisions had been made at the AGM for the development of the sport of powerlifting in Jharkhand. It was decided that district units should be started where weightlifting was not considered a sport. It was decided that a database of former state players should be prepared and their help should be taken for the development of this game in the districts.

It was also decided that the state association should organize a technical seminar as soon as possible so that technical officials at the state level could be trained that could be helpful in developing the sport of weightlifting in the state. The general secretary, Anil Kumar Jaiswal, said that it will be organized in Ranchi in the month of November, in which technical officials of the Federation will be invited.

He reported that the Jharkhand State Open Weightlifting Competition will be organized in the first week of December in the Sub Junior, Junior and Senior categories. Various units of the district will ensure their participation in this competition that will be organized in Ranchi.

It was unanimously decided that the district units would organize training camps and seminars for technical development and also for the development of this sport. Jaiswal said that all players in the state will also be registered.
