Jharkhand: Two relatives were killed, four were injured by lightning

Two members of a family were killed and four others, including a baby, were injured on Sunday when lightning struck them in a rice field in Gumla district, police said.

The incident took place in the village of Jakjore below the Basia police station tonight, they said.

Durga Singh (45) and her daughter Pushpa Kumari (18) died on the spot after being struck by lightning in the fieldsaid the police officer (Basia), Vikash Anand Laguri.

Durga Singh’s wife, Sahodara Devi, daughters Bharti Kumari (8) and Punita Kumari (5), and a two-month-old baby were injured, he said, adding that they were rushed to a hospital.

In another incident, one person died and 10 others were injured. after a truck full of LPG cylinders collided with an autorickshaw on the Kandra-Seraikela highway below the Seraikela-Kharswan district on Sunday, police said.

Although the truck driver managed to flee, the vehicle has been impounded.

The injured are receiving treatment at a hospital, they said.
