Immediately after the Jharkhand government issued a notice allocating a separate room to offer Namaaz in the State Assembly, Bihar BJP MLA Hari Bhushan Thakur Bachol demanded a separate room to recite Hanuman Chalisa in the Bihar legislature.
The NDA allies JD (U) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), however, differed with the Bisfi MLA (Madhubani).
Bachol told reporters on Tuesday: “If there is a provision for a room to offer namaz in Jharkhand, we should also have a separate room to recite Hanuman Chalisa (in the Bihar legislature).” The Bihar legislature has also provided a separate room to offer Namaaz since 1993.
JD (U) MLC Ghulam Gous said: “There should be no politics on these issues. The policy of appeasement for any community is bad. “HAM (S) spokesperson Danish Rizwan said:” What if people start demanding the construction of a mosque in every police station just because most have temples ? What Bachol demanded is not right ”.
BJP also called it the “personal opinion” of the MLA. BJP national spokesperson Guru Prakash Paswan said: “Secularism means that the state should not profess or promote any particular faith. We believe in the Constitution in letter and spirit and we do not indulge in any kind of appeasement policy. The Jharkhand government must reconsider and withdraw its decision which is indicative of its policy of appeasement. Hari Bhushan Thakur is a BJP MLA and this is his personal opinion on this matter. “
