India advanced to the final of the SAFF Women’s Under-19 Championship after defeating Nepal 1-0 in their final group stage match in Dhaka on Sunday.
Priyanka Devi scored the winning goal in the 66th minute.
India head coach Alex Ambrose made two changes to his starting eleven since his last game against Bangladesh, with Nitu Linda and Lynda Kom replacing Kritina Devi and Santosh, respectively.
India took the initial initiative, but did not take advantage of its opportunities. Captain Shilky Devi threw a ball from the left in the 19th minute and passed it to Sumati, who missed an open opportunity to find the back of the net.

India’s combined game threatened to lag Nepal from the start. Nepal struggled to create chances and maintain possession.
In the 36th minute, Amisha Baxla fired a first shot, but failed to connect properly as the ball went over the crossbar.
India’s best chance came in the 42nd minute, when Priyangka Devi fired a pass from Shilky Devi, but it went wide.
Ten minutes after the second half, Mariyammal’s corner kick fell directly to Lynda Kom in the six-yard box, but she was unable to connect the ball properly.

Coach Ambrose made three changes in the 61st minute when Santosh, Apurna Narzary and Santhiya replaced Nitu Linda, Lynda Kom and Amisha Baxla respectively.
India’s goal finally came in the 66th minute, when Sumati Kumari entered the Nepal area from the left and cut for Priyanka, whose shot passed a defender before fitting into the back of the net.
Another great opportunity for India came when Sumati Kumari played behind the Nepal defense, and tried to hit the rival goalkeeper on the rebound, but her effort went over the bar.
The final between host Bangladesh and India will be played on Wednesday.
