Singh also said that he will continue to visit Rezang La to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers until he remains defense minister.
The Battle of Rezang La is largely regarded as the best moment for the Indian army during the 1962 war with China, as more than 100 Indian soldiers repulsed a large number of Chinese troops, displaying pure courage and indomitable spirit. .
The defense minister said that India never intended to occupy the land of any other country, but has given an adequate response to anyone who is looking at the country’s territory and that Indian soldiers are capable of protecting every inch of the nation.

“I am saluting the 114 Indian soldiers who made supreme sacrifices in the 1962 war after reaching Rezang La, nestled in the middle of the inaccessible hills of Ladakh,” Singh said.
The monument was built in 1963 on the Chushul Plains, right on the India-China border, to honor the troops of the Charlie Company of the 13th Kumaon Regiment, who participated in the battle.
The decision to renovate the monument was made by Singh when he visited Leh in June.

The renovated war memorial was thrown wide open at a time when India and China have been locked in a bitter border row in eastern Ladakh for nearly a year and a half.
