The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has questioned the government of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in Jharkhand about an order assigning a room to offer namaz in the new state assembly building during the current Monsoon Session.
Bokaro MLA and BJP whip chief Biranchi Narayan said the party demands a similar allocation of rooms in the assembly building for people of all other religions, including Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism, Jainism, etc. .
“The allocation of rooms for all religions would mean the same respect for all. When a special community can be assigned a space for prayers, others must also be assigned the same,” he said.
According to sources, the BJP is expected to raise the issue on the floor of the Chamber and also plans to agitate outside the assembly.
Spokesperson Rabindra Mahato defends the measure
Meanwhile, spokesman Rabindra Mahato said there was nothing new to the measure, as similar arrangements had been in place since the time of undivided Bihar.
“On Fridays, the Assembly rises half an hour earlier for the namaz. In the old Vidhan Sabha building, there was an arrangement and a place for the namaz. Since the House has moved to a new meeting building and has not been marked no space for the namaz, now a room has been allocated, “Rabindra Mahato told India Today by phone.
The state’s Minority Welfare Minister Hafizul Ansari welcomed the room assignment for namaz. He said the Spokesman’s decision was “perfectly fine.”
“The minority ministers used to offer namaz in their huts with great difficulty. They had no choice but to return to their residences and hurry back to attend the session. The character of the BJP is well known to all. It is always on the lookout to play game. politics on trivial issues related to religion, “he said.
