Four Bangladeshi citizens were detained by the police in the Karimganj district of Assam, near the Assam-Tripura border, from a Guwahati-bound passenger bus that had entered India without valid documents.

The detained Bangladeshi citizens were identified as Rakesh Sen, Ashadul Sheikh, Salaullah and Kaushar Hussain.

Bangladeshi citizens were reportedly arrested from a passenger bus in the Churaibari area on Friday night while traveling from Agartala to Guwahati.

A police officer from the Churaibari Police Post said that Bangladeshi citizens were detained during routine checks and were unable to provide evidence of their Indian citizenship.

“The bus was traveling from Agartala to Guwahati. During interrogation, the Bangladeshi citizens of Rajshahi revealed that their next destination was Chennai. They had entered India without valid documents,” the police officer said.
