3 workers die after falling from a height at Vedanta electrosteel plant in Jharkhand’s Bokaro

Three workers were killed after falling from a height at the Vedanta electrosteel plant in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district on Monday night.

Three workers died at the scene after falling from a height at the Vedanta electro-steel plant in Siyaljori in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district on Monday night. They were engaged in repair work in the plant’s closed blast furnace when the incident occurred.

All three have been identified as Shahnawaz Alam, Mohammad Osama and Mohammad Sultan. They were residents of Ranchi and Jamshedpur.

Shilpi Shukla, communications officer for ESL Steel Ltd, said Thyssenkrupp Elevator employees had come to the plant to repair an elevator when the incident occurred. The company is investigating the accident, he said.

On behalf of the company, he expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the workers and said that they will offer them all and any kind of support.

Amar Kumar Bauri, BJP MLA of Chandankiyari constituency, demanded a high-level investigation into the case by the district administration.

Purushottam Singh, a police officer for the Chas subdivision, confirmed the incident. He said the bodies have been kept in the Bokaro General Hospital morgue for now.
